Then in the beginning volume we kept hearing about the first Globe girl who had arrived in the Skittle-alien's world, Kim, and how she overcame a lot of crap to become the Empress of this universe. I kept feeling like I was missing a pretty big slice of the puzzle considering the references to Kim were like something we were supposed to know, but didn't. I kept feeling like I was missing a pretty large piece of the puzzle because the references to Kim were like something we were supposed to know, simply didn't. Like your parent's anniversary, your dog's birthday, or your friend's telephone numbers (without our phones saving them - face it - we are all helpless and would never be heard from again). Sure, it would be nice if nosotros knew those things, and maybe we should, but we don't.

and advanced math. Once you lot are an adult your brain dumps all of your higher math skills to make room for remembering where random things are left in your business firm.
"Honey, where are my car keys?"
"Under the bathroom mat in the kids' bathroom."
"Why?"
"Because the ii yr old was playing horsey and used the car keys to start the equus caballus and fell in mud and needed a bathroom and I had to pry them out of her hands while simultaneously refereeing a fight between the five & half dozen yr olds. And then, they ended upwardly nether the bath mat." *duh!*

And then, this book gave the states the history of the emperor, Wray, and his wife, Kim. She went through a big old crap-fest before she met him, then he saves her life. And, so she goes through a big sometime crap-fest to try and keep him. Poor Kim! Everyone wanted to rape her and kill her. It's like someone put a sticky note on her dorsum or something. She was a walking target.

That'southward right, she'due south the George McFly of the Tornian universe. Ouch!

But, Kim is strong and she does a lot of donkey-boot herself. She won't put upwardly with a bunch of misogynistic colorful aliens trying to push her around. And, really, how seriously tin you lot take a guy who is pink? Yeah, he'southward going to need to be a pretty good fighter to compensate for that. Or, have a sports-car or something. Cuz, guys with behemothic trucks and sports cars - we all know there is something they are trying to comprehend for, right girls?

You know nosotros are all thinking it...

This book has a lot of action, fighting, and devious plots along with the alien-

smutromance. It is also edited better than the first book which seemed to have been edited by a dyslexic 7 year erstwhile with a crayon. So, all in all, information technology was an enjoyable read in a pretty complex world. I'g looking forward to a lot more of the story.

Prequel to Grim past the same author.

ii.5 stars.
I'chiliad fairly disappointed with this volume. Mainly because I so very much adored her first book in this series. Grim

I accept to say this book had much better editing than Grim did, only the plot was not belongings my attention well. If there is a choice to be fabricated, I take to say I'll take editing problems with a keen story any day over good editing and a so-then plot.

I'm fairly disappointed with this book. Mainly because I then very much adored her first book in this series. Grim

I have to say this volume had much improve editing than Grim did, but the plot was non holding my attending well. If there is a choice to be made, I have to say I'll have editing issues with a bang-up story any solar day over adept editing and a then-and then plot.

I don't want to make excuses for the author, but I do know later Grim's popularity exploded - people were clamoring for MK Eidem to write Wray's story. And then I wonder if this volume was an writer trying to please the masses instead of following her ain muse & inspiration. I can't point fingers, as I was ane of the crowd who wrote her begging for Wray's story.

This book felt fairly preachy to me. At that place were multiple veins of preachy. One was racism/elitism. The Tornian'southward thinking they were to a higher place reproach, and no one should sully the genetics past convenance outside of the race. Some other preachy avenue was the corruption of women.
Likewise, in that location was quite a bit of the "I'1000 non a (spoiled/rotten) Tornian Female so stop expecting me to carry that way" drama re-hashed.

More of the Goddess's curse is explained, as well as how other races & planets are effected by it. The Goddess makes a more in-person appearance to Kim via her dreams on several occasions.

*** SPOILERS ***

The book seemed to be in two parts:

* Part one was Kim's abduction, corruption past the Ganglian'south (which was actually a very short portion of the book) and Wray's rescue of her. Followed by (carmine shirt) pilot, Wray and Kim crashing on an uninhabited planet. Airplane pilot dies, of course.
At that place is some kind of massive storm on the planet keeping whatever shuttles from landing - thus giving Kim and Wray a calendar week alone in their cavern to get to know each other.
Wray refrains from telling Kim that he is the Emperor besides as hiding the fact that he washed her while she was nevertheless unconscious (kind of a skeevy scene with him fingering the unconscious near-decease rape victim he has just rescued).
Kim reflects on her poor by behavior in adolescence and finds her mode to forgive and sympathise Wray's washing her.

* Function ii is Wray & Kim's rescue from the uninhabited planet after the storm finally stops. Wray and Kim are separated when the Emperor's warrior's arrive. 2 warriors attempt to rape Kim seeing her as 'available' since she is not a Tornian woman and scenting of Ganglian sex. Wray rescues her but refrains from killing the warriors because the law is on their side. Kim realizes Wray is actually the Emperor and her trust in him is temporarily destroyed. He explains how he wanted her to know the man, not the title. She sympathise & forgives.
Wray has business on planet Vesta with Lord Reeve. (Co-Conspirator to Lord Bertos from Grim) Drama ensues with Wray'southward simply living son, the two bad warriors and the bad dr..
Nothing politically gets worked out with the police allowing not-Tornian women to be driveling by anyone, merely Wray clearly has his eyes opened to the situation. Kim finds out she is pregnant and they decide to keep it to themselves.

Queue present solar day with baby Destiny nursing and Kim remembering all that's occurred.

Just I had some large issues with Wray in the beginning that overcast my overall enjoyment of the book. But for one of these bug, it would probably accept been 4 stars.

Kim had to withstand unspeakable horrors at the hands of her abductors. Wray and his men saved her. They became very attached. I appreciated that they did not leap in the sack in a solar day. For a rape victim it would be so shocking. Nonetheless information technology was still quick, but at least they had bonded. I did not similar that Wray withheld information, but I understood his reasons and I was totally ok with her forgiving quickly. It did not seem an unforgivable offense. I hated how he handled her attack by his ain men, but I got it. He was in a tough spot. I probably would not have forgiven as rapidly as her, but I can be a hateful bitch that holds a grudge, and so I am happy she is ameliorate than me.

Clearly it was an uphill boxing for Kim to join their society. Ane that Wray completely underestimated and 1 she was probably not equipt to really take on. It is clear to me that until Lisa (who IS totally able to handle the boxing) comes on the scene in Grim a few months later, not a lot of progress is made. I liked the interplay of the Goddess and Warrior. The dead ex did not bother me equally much as in Grim, but I still wish at that place were fewer references and comparisons.

I am glad I did not read this earlier Grim because I may non accept continued the series. The men are total assholes. The women are worse, merely we do not see a lot of them. But having read and loved Grim, I was willing to push button through this book.

My biggest issue may not bother most people so I am not making a big deal of it. But for those who have to know, here it is...(view spoiler)[
When Wray saves Kim from her abductors/abuser she immediately passes out and does not awaken for days. During this fourth dimension he cares for her. Perving out a bit on her. Merely at some point he figures out how filthy she is and decides to bathe her. During this bath, he feels her up and even puts the tip of his finger in her vagina. I was SO not ok with this. I was a nanosecond from a DNF considering while I can handle a Hero doing bad stuff that he is later held accountable for. This Hero did something disgusting to a RAPE victim who was unconscious and he never told her. He knew it was wrong, yet he did it anyhow. And so he was never held answerable. She figured out he bathed her and was upset past information technology. I cannot imagine what she would take idea about his wondering easily.

This is one very modest item that many may not have even noticed or thought twice nigh. Only it bothered the hell out of me. All that being said. I totally believe Wray loves and adores her. I am ok with their HEA and am actually glad that she never constitute out because I am sure I would not have been ok with easy forgiveness.

** Spoilers **

I knew that reading and enjoying the first book would be too expert too be true.
The second book started off in a manner that made me uncomfortable,
very Uncomfortable.
Wray finds Kim and saves her from Slave Traders, ok, nosotros knew that from volume ane
and in my opinion that was plenty groundwork needed on the couple.

I knew that reading and enjoying the first book would exist too good too exist true.
The second book started off in a mode that made me uncomfortable,
very Uncomfortable.
Wray finds Kim and saves her from Slave Traders, ok, we knew that from book one
and in my opinion that was enough background needed on the couple.

Wray knows that Kim has been browbeaten, abused and raped,
and yet,
the Offset thing that he does when he gets her alone is to...
breast-stroke her,
fondle her,
feel her up, and
Probe her while she is unconscious.
WTF? Creepy Much!!
What happened to all of his so called Honor ??
The Wray in book two was NOT the Wray in volume 1.

Kim was too young and annoying for the kind of woman Wray would need, an Empress.
And, Wray was too old and creepy in the outset of book two for my comfort.
Both characters did a total personailty alter from book one.
It is nigh equally though a different writer wrote the kickoff book ??

Kim was almost the same age equally Wray'southward son,
information technology would seem that she would take done better mating with his son.

I'm tired of reading novels where the Male Leads are style older than the females,
accept had a wife with kids
and
the Female Leads are barely legal.
Why couldn't Kim have been at least 21, 25 years-erstwhile, or Older?
Kim could have been older and even so had an argument with her sister.

I also had questions about the timeline betwixt Grim's book and Wray'southward.
Wray saved Kim when she was 19, she became meaning and in Grim's book
she is virtually 8 months pregnant, I recall...

I did non like the fact that the author went back and wrote Wray and Kim's story.
It made the story line confusing and feel disjointed.
If she really wanted to tell Wray'due south and Kim story, their story should have been book ane,
and Grim's story, volume two.
In book one, Wray and Kim had already met and mated, equally well equally Lord Oryon and Lady Isis.
Ynyr and Abby met in book one and mated,
which makes their story being told afterwards the fact as awkward as Wray and Kim's story.

I don't see why the author would non write books about charcters who have non mated,
like Ynyr's oldest brother Ull, especially since his female parent was worried about him finding a good adult female.
The author could take likewise written nearly Callen and Rebecca
or Tora, Wray's son or..
any of the remaining unmated females on Luda instead of characters who were already mated.

The scenes with the warriors Fala and Gyula too got on my nerves.
Yes, I understand that their behavior led to alter,
simply for warriors who claimed to have so much Honor, they didn't practice it.

I was very disappointed with this book.

Also, the author does non comprehend the life expectancy of a Tornian.
Practice they have long lives, longer than humans? If so, how much longer?
Will the earth women's lives exist extended when they mate with a Tornian?

Callen and Rebecca should take had their story told but it seems that the author has moved on to a new series.

** If I were the author, I would have written
one.)
Wray's book offset(information technology did not accept to exist a long book, just plenty to explicate the Tornian Empire, add a little maturity to Kim, and delete the Wray perverted scene in the beginning).
2.)
Grim second,
3.)
Ynyr third (And I would have skipped his mating at the stop of Grim's book and start off his book with the ceremony. Lord Oryon and Lady Isis's curt story would take been apart of their son's book), and
4.)
the concluding book would have been Callen and Rebecca's story ending the serial and ensuring a way for more earth females to travel to the Tornian Empire.
I can't stand up when authors start a new serial and leave the first ane hanging open indefinitely.

I echo, this book does not feel equally though information technology was written by the same author who wrote Grim.
- Extremely Disappointed

My fault for thinking that Wray would be at least as good if not better than Grim. The book started well plenty and was Ok-ish till Wray and Kim left the cave. They should take never left the damn cave. Never. Because after that the book was just nonsensical to the point of madness. I ll list my grievances in a petty while.

The one thing that was running through my listen after finishing this volume was WHY? WHY DID WE NEED THIS BOOK? It did not reveal anything that was non already in Grim. Seriously, not a unmarried new thing. Nope.

description

Ok, here comes my list. (CONTAINS SPOILERS) duh

1. I was probably wearing my rose tinted glasses while I was reading Grim. But even if I hadn't been, I would have accepted information technology. Simply in Wray, all bets were off from the beginning. Because Kim decided to say "I love you". Why, y'all inquire, this irritated me to no end? Because she had just been rescued from an conflicting ship, where she was raped for more than a week and then having woken up, finds another huge alien with her. A couple of days and then kaboooooom she loves him. I think she was either disturbed or the FRICK-UP fairy was strong with that 1. Am i being too harsh here? Ok I am letting this one slide.

two. Some other thing I couldn't stand was the idiotic dialogues -_- Oh my god!. Here is an example. Your honey of the life and son are drowning, how do yous react?

Tora!His Offset Male!
Kim!! His Dearest!!

This was actually how it was written. For real. It was a office of Wray's inner monologue.
I am going to try this the next time something happens,

Rose! My tenth goldfish!!

description

three. Wray is the Emperor of all Civilized Planets. If it wasn't mentioned, I wouldn't know considering no on gives a Shit or Respects his orders. Once more for instance,

Wray:She is Kim, the Empress
Anyone other than Wray or Kim: No she is non.

This is repeated with every unmarried person in the book. Every single one. Sometimes twice. Or thrice. You become my point.

4. The crap nigh respecting females? No one seems to do that other than the Principal character and his sidekick. I don't desire to waste matter my time on pointing out the 1008 times where this happens.

Too all Tornian females are stuck upwardly bishes, so much so it has become the norm for males to assume the same without thought. So if you happen to visit the Tornian World and enquire a male person "How are you?" he would probably genuflect and gaze at you in wonder for-fricking-ever and build y'all a temple or something.

5. In that location is no need for a Frick-Up Fairy(FUF) for this book, considering the Goddess plays information technology perfectly. I
can't help but say it once more, The Frick-up Fairy is strong with this one. Again here is an example. This was said by the Goddess/FUF right after Kim goes through a mortiferous drowning and escaping past a hairs breadth.

Goddess/FUF: What virtually your warrior?
Kim:What warrior?
Goddess/FUF: Have you forgotten him so hands? Perhaps y'all aren't the right female for my new beginning.

New outset?I mean seriously? Someone commits a criminal offense, and so instead of punishing the concerned ones, she damns three planets. For 500 fricking years. She even admits that cursing them was a mistake. There volition be no need for a new first if not for her idiocy. But how does she act? Similar a FU.

I am pretty sure I tin go even farther, but these are the main thingies that made me rate this book 1 star.

One may ask why I did not add this to my Dnf decease bed and move on, but I wanted to see how much suckier this book could get and in doing so I accept go an unwilling masochist.

Phew. I am done with this.

Wray is the second book in the Tornian series and was the last book of the series that I read (which doesn't count the novellas) and I have to say that fifty-fifty though I adored this couple in so many ways especially in the ways that we see them in volume one Wray. I volition say that this is probably my least favorite book of the series. Not saying I didn't enjoy this book because I truly loved it, simply it didn't take the thrill or chemistry that I felt in the other books but there are some unique dynamics in this story that the others books don't have.

Wray begins with our heroine, Kim, while searching for her missing sister and her brother in law is kidnapped by Ganglians, where she is raped and beaten and when Wray comes across the Ganglian transport and rescue the slaves on the ship, he finds Kim barely alive. He heals nigh of her injuries until they are attacked and their shuttle is forced to set down on a planet. This is where the human relationship between Wray and Kim actually develops and some existent intense feelings class betwixt them. One time Wray'south men detect him and Kim, this is where Wray tells Kim the truth virtually who he really is....an emperor and that he wants Kim as his empress. And we see that Kim doesn't take Wray not telling her the truth very well. But I did similar the way that this hero grovels when he is in the wrong. Wray and Kim work through the fragile politics and treachery of enemies.

This story takes identify right before Grim (the first volume in the series) so we get some great background data on a couple that makes an impression on the reader through the books. I did enjoy seeing this story develop in many ways, and seeing Kim (normal human being) piece of work through her new life and responsibilities and showing the Tornian's that there is another and better way to live. Nosotros see some more in-depth knowledge of the Tornian culture and history and why they were cursed by the "goddess". Another aspect I enjoyed seeing was Tora. Tora is Wray's son, who is full grown and I just beloved the mode that Kim wins him over, which isn't piece of cake. Kim is and so dissimilar from the females they know and I had a nail seeing her strength come through and stand on her own and strive for a different and better way for them to live.

Overall I found Wray to exist an enjoyable read that takes us deeper into this Tornian world and story of immense character growth and a love story yous can delve into!!

Notwithstanding, in Tornians #ii we've got no kids, oh noes. We've got an upgrade and thus our hero is a true hero for he saves the chick from evil aliens who kidnapped her first and of course then ensues the rurrrrmance.

The h&h of this book we met in #1 and since that was such an epic & beloved story, of course the masses demanded nosotros go some other book for the brother & his homo empress. YAY. Meh.

So Wray is actually #1's prologue chronologically. This happened before that. lolz.

In the start book in the series, we meet Grim and Lisa, in this book nosotros jump back in time a few months and meet how the Emperor, Wray, met Kim the man woman who changed everything, leading to the events in the outset book.

Kim is barely hanging on to life, she doesn't know how long information technology has been to the ugly, smelly, hairy aliens have taken her, but all she can experience is the cold and the pain. That is until Wray saves her and starts to have care of her. Despite all she has endured she can't help but fall for the large tough warrior, who shows her simply care and gentleness. But, his world is vastly unlike to hers, females are in short supply and are segregated from the men, only interacting with males when they "Join" and hopefully produce offspring. Lisa refuses to be treated like a common cold and uncaring Tornian female much to Wray's delight and dismay... how will his people react when he brings the beautiful notwithstanding completely unlike Kim back to Torino?

I'k reviewing this later on having a reread of the series, I was actually missing my over-protection, unbearably sweet, still clueless Tornian males so I decided to get my fix by read the series again whilst I wait for another book to be brought out. Does this book make me wish I could go abducted and be used as a Tornian brides? Why yes, aye it does.

So, I admit, these aren't the greatest books in the world, aside from the occasional spelling or grammar fault, some of the story has plot holes miles wild and the globe doesn't entirely make sense. Does that stop me from enjoying this book? Non one tiny flake. Well that was another different read for me!

I read this because I was amazed with the first book, Grim. This one is just as interesting! The plot isn't that hard to figure out. I read this because I was amazed with the starting time book, Grim. This 1 is just as interesting! The plot isn't that difficult to figure out. A human woman gets into the hands of bad aliens and is rescued by another conflicting who's honorable and proficient. They figure out their differences and fall for each other. But wait... There are so many obstacles when yous dear a person different from you. That is what readers should look frontwards to in this volume. How does a couple disregard the departure in their civilization and build a life together in the heart of it all?

Permit'due south talk about the characters...

Wray is definitely different from Grim. While Grim was totally intense, Wray was is sweeter and more charming than his brother. He's strong, brave, smart and very snobby. He'southward an emperor, so I guess he does have the right to order people around. ;) Anyhow, just like his brother, Wray values women more than himself or any other male. Information technology's ingrained in him to exist caring for women... Kim got the reward and disadvantage of that fact. He's protective of Kim and that's a good thing. Even so, sometimes, he'due south also OVERPROTECTIVE, and that could be bad. What I love most his character though, is that he never doubted Kim. Kim was always GOOD in his eyes. I love that about him.

Kim on the other hand is a FIGHTER. She most definitely is a fighter. She's also a survivor. I dear how she handled things and how she didn't dwell on the bad ones. She'southward someone who has been through something horrifying, simply withal managed to be who she is and not change that just because of the things she'south been through. I beloved how she constantly reminds Wray that he too, is of import. In a globe wherein women dominion, women should exist revered, women are always right... Kim chose to be simply herself. She didn't desire to be above everybody else. She remained apprehensive and that's a very good matter.

This book made me feel happy, sad, envious because I also want a WRAY OF MY Ain, angry of all the bad elements surrounding them and ultimately contented with how the volume ended.

This was an crawly read. I had fun. :)

Wray starts the presentment on how things are going to exist on Torian at present.

Pros: I really liked the relationship between Kim and Wray right from the outset of the volume. There was simply something special and existent almost it. I really loved this book just as much as I loved Grimm's volume. I liked that it gave us a look at where it all started and i truly can't wait for the next book to come out and who it is going to be well-nigh.

Cons: I didn't like that Wray wasn't about to see Reeve for the coward that he was. It seemed like the evidence was right in front of him and he just didn't put the clues together.

Characters: Wray & Kim

Folio Turner: Yes

Series Cont: I really hope so! This is i of my favorites!

Great follow-upward to Grim...although it's kind of a prequel besides.

Information technology's starts off with Kim daydreaming about how she met Wray. In Grim, we just got snippets of this story so it was nice to get all of the details. We go through Kim's kidnapping and abuse by the Ganglions, her rescue and subsequent crash on a desolate planet, but the best part is that we run into how Kim and Wray fall in beloved. I have been waiting for some other installmant in the Tornians series ever since i read Grim so to say my excitement was high is probably an understatement (fifty-fifty though I had problems with Grim).

That being said. The catastrophe of this book is already known every bit Wray & Kim were featured as secondary characters in "Grim". Personally, I question if it was a skillful decision to practice a prequel sort of thing at this phase in the series merely did appreciate getting more than in the globe edifice and mystery/suspense department. The overall premise is that Kim, in the present day, is reflecting on all that'south happened to her. If you lot haven't read this series and are looking to, I would highly suggest reading this installment Before you read "Grim"......

The chemistry between Wray and Kim does click but has a fairy tale sort of feel. It was a stretch to fall in with Kim agreeing to accept any sort of relationship with Wray after she's rescued but mayhap I'thou being a little likewise critical. It never gets old that Earth women take the ability and duty to bring even the well-nigh fearless of conflicting warriors to their knees. Nope. Not for me. hehehe. I exercise want to add that while the adult content scenes did take some hot action, information technology wasn't to the degree that I was looking to stick my e reader in the freezer to cool off or take any ice cold showers.

The actual story line does fill in needed information on who/what/when/where/how the Tornians are where they're at and what potential 'evil' element threat is brewing. There'due south a scrap of activity and a bit of suspense to requite some dial to things. Yet. The different scenes are then compartmentalized and wrapped up in such a way that I was left wanting more than. The fun function is that the author HAS included several open up ended subplots to work off for future installments.

The cast of secondary characters. It was disappointing that Grim and others from Volume i weren't featured more than they were. I'm not a fan of serial that feature characters and so drop them. By the time the story line got to parallel time frames from the first book I expected those characters to drop past. **sigh

I am totally enjoying this series in that the premise, plot, and characters have a lot going on that I am a fan of. Some may feel it's merely another version of conflicting warriors in drastic need of women to populate their planet. I say it'south a dissimilar take on men who piss off a Goddess and seek redemption that tin can simply exist constitute on the primitive planet, Globe, where us super savy women live. :D

In the start book in the series, we see Grim and Lisa, in this book we jump back in fourth dimension a few months and see how the Emperor, Wray, met Kim the human adult female who changed everything, leading to the events in the get-go book.

Kim is barely hanging on to life, she doesn't know how long information technology has been to the ugly, smelly, hairy aliens have taken her, but all she tin feel is the cold and the pain. That is until Wray saves her and starts to take intendance of her. Despite all she has endured she tin't aid only fall for the large tough warrior, who shows her only care and gentleness. Just, his world is vastly different to hers, females are in short supply and are segregated from the men, only interacting with males when they "Bring together" and hopefully produce offspring. Lisa refuses to be treated like a common cold and uncaring Tornian female much to Wray's please and dismay... how volition his people react when he brings the beautiful yet completely different Kim dorsum to Torino?

I'grand reviewing this afterward having a reread of the series, I was really missing my over-protection, unbearably sweetness, yet clueless Tornian males so I decided to get my prepare by read the series again whilst I await for some other book to be brought out. Does this book brand me wish I could become abducted and be used as a Tornian brides? Why yes, yes information technology does.

And so, I admit, these aren't the greatest books in the world, bated from the occasional spelling or grammar error, some of the story has plot holes miles wild and the world doesn't entirely make sense. Does that stop me from enjoying this volume? Not one tiny bit. What I love about this series is the romance, as over the top sweet every bit it is, there is something about my sexy alien warriors adoring their females that tugs me dorsum for more.

This will definitely non be for everyone, merely this serial is a not-so-guilty pleasure for me, and I will continue waiting with baited breath for the next volume to come out!

Wray is the Emperor of the known universe, and Kim is a human girl (probably simply 19 or so) who was abducted from Earth by the evil Ganglians. Their helm raped her repeatedly and shell her so that she is at expiry's door when she is finally rescued by Wray and his Tornian crew. Wray and Kim are stranded together and their relationship begins in that location. The book is about the Goddess's curse on the Tornians, Ganglians and Kaliszians, and why they were cursed and how far they still need to go to earn her forgiveness. Kim shines lite on the Tornian culture from her exterior perspective, that shows Wray how depression the Tornians have sunk as a people. Kim herself isn't perfect and so is more understanding and supportive than you might think Wray and the Tornians deserve. At that place's a fair bit of obvious intrigue simply information technology keeps the footstep of the story going and ties in with Grim's story.
I found this one hard to put down. My only problem with the world building is how the Tornian women are all supposed to be so horrible (except for Lady Isis). It's a scrap much and seems a little to user-friendly to the author.

A thoroughly enjoyable pace dorsum (before Grim) and while not as gritty as I expected...and quite honestly, hoped for...it did embellish the earth of the Tornian empire, and introduce many characters and situational possibilities for the continuation of a series.

I liked both Wray and Kim a lot. I was impressed past the willingness of the author to brand no character off-limits for...well, off limits. No spoilers here, sorry.

If I have a comment with this book, information technology would exist this: at that place was a background setting of a very gritty and severe experience for our intrepid human, and an Emperor who had a "accept no prisoners" arroyo to rule and I would accept liked to see that side of things dominate more. Or at least more consistently. There seemed a back and forth between a difficult border (which obviously I loved) and a sweetness story, such that I was often dislocated and possibly even a bit distracted by the direction the author intended.

Notwithstanding, I love this series and I practise hope both Wray's son, and his Number one get a story too. I think the latter might relish learning more than most couture. Just sayin'...
